Sacrifices

Skunk encourages Skunks disciples to make symbolic and ethical sacrifices. These ritualistic, devotional offerings are of material resources that don’t cause harm to living beings. They can be made to Skunks self and other deities to secure divine favor (bribery), appease them, and maintain cosmic order.

Offerings and sacrifices can be made any time and consist of any items; however, flowers, insects, and other food items that might strike the fancy of Skunk are most typical. The Gods in Church of Skunk may be appeased by offerings and grant their blessings upon the offerer.

Altars

altar

It is common for church of skunk members to pray at an altar and use one when engaging in sacrificial rituals. Statues of Skunk and other deities of the practitioner's choice may be placed together so that prayers, offerings and/or sacrifices can be made.

The following photo is an example of a permanent altar with offerings being made. Some permanent altars appear complete with a sacrifice bowl in which offerings to Skunk, Macha, Badb, Hazelnut, and Dolly can be burned.

Church of Skunk members often wear articles of clothing depicting Skunk and other holy Deities. Earrings and hats are most common. (The Church of Skunk endorsed hat can be purchased here.) Below is a Church member wearing their Skunk hat while holding a skunk at 2025 SkunkFest.
